TENT. is accessible by public transport from Rotterdam Central Station by taking tram 7, Witte de Withstraat stop, or tram 4, Eendrachtsplein stop.
Walking from the station takes around 15 minutes, departing from the Centrum exit, continue straight ahead on the Westersingel, then left into the Witte de Withstraat.
If you come by car, follow the signs for Centrum, in the city centre you head in the direction of Museum Boijmans van Beuningen.

Parking
Paid parking is possible in the street or in the car park on the Hartmanstraat, which crosses Witte de Withstraat. You are required to pay using ChipKnip
or credit card.

TENT. is a 1ooo m2 exhibition space in Rotterdam, which offers a programme of visual arts focused on the significance of location and context.
In group exhibitions such as Tracer (2oo4), Neo-Beginners (2oo6) and Wrong Time, Wrong Place (2oo7) TENT. examines the relationship between local art, the city of Rotterdam, and the wider world. In other words: Location, Location, Location is central to TENT. And in particular, the motivations of the artists in this regard. TENT. has a socio-cultural view of contemporary metropolitan issues.

The programming of TENT. is aimed at identifying tendencies and correlations in the Rotterdam art world. Artists bring their work to the attention of TENT. and TENT. actively pursues it. After paying studio visits and intensively exchanging ideas with artists on the relationship ‘production – presentation’, the projects eventually develop. With a high regard for the visitors, for whom the plea is ultimately intended.
In TENT. [Events] such as Liever thuis dan Uit (No place like Home) or The Rotterdam Animation Evening, the significance of a metropolitan context for art is scrutinized for diverse groups of visitors. In educational projects such as Fake Images and Real Egos (April 2oo7), secondary school students are encouraged to explore the manipulability of identity on the basis of the art exhibited.
TENT. continues striving to put the quality of Rotterdam first and foremost in the exhibitions, and to put the clichés – which are always inevitable – about local art to the test. In short, TENT. chooses for a content driven programme that is geared towards the current globalized society. This we believe to be entirely ‘contemporary’, and as such the best way to support the arts.
TENT. constitutes the Exhibitions department of the Centrum Beeldende Kunst Rotterdam. TENT. opened its doors at the Witte de Withstraat 5o on 9 September 1999. TENT. was established in order to show Rotterdam visual art in a broad context, with ample consideration for the interdisciplinary and (inter)national character that typifies Rotterdam art.
TENT. is the continuation of Villa Alckmaer, the exhibition space of the Centrum Beeldende Kunst, which was located on the Westersingel since 1994. Initially TENT. was led by the troika Ove Lucas, Arno van Roosmalen and Thomas Meijer zu Schlochtern. Ove Lucas was director of the Centrum Beeldende Kunst Rotterdam in 2oo6, where Mejier zu Schlochtern is currently responsible for the international policy. Arno van Roosmalen left in 2oo4 to become director of Stroom in The Hague.
